Bees produce wax through special glands in their abdomen in the form of tiny flakes.

A flake of wax weighs about 0.8 mg, and more than a million of them are needed to produce just one kilogram of wax .

Due to its waterproofing, nourishing and antibacterial properties , beeswax has been used since ancient times as a base for various preparations for leather and wood care.
